Buffaload Takes to the Water for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT)

Racing for a Great Cause

At the beginning of September, a team of Buffaload colleagues swapped their day jobs for dragon boats as we took part in the Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival in support of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT). Bringing together businesses from across the region, the event combined friendly competition with an important fundraising mission to support the future Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.

The Buffa-Rowers Rise to the Challenge

Representing a range of departments from across the business, our Buffa-Rowers embraced the challenge with determination, teamwork and plenty of enthusiasm. For many, it was their first time in a dragon boat, but that didn’t stop the team from giving it their all on the River Cam. Throughout the day, colleagues, friends and family gathered on the riverbank to cheer on the crews and create a fantastic atmosphere.

A Record-Breaking Fundraising Effort

While there was plenty of action on the water, the biggest achievement came through fundraising. Thanks to the generosity of our colleagues, customers, suppliers and wider network, Team Buffaload raised more than £1,000 for ACT, making us one of the event’s leading fundraising teams. The achievement helped the charity exceed its overall fundraising target and set a new benchmark for future events.

Supporting the Future of Cancer Care

The money raised will contribute towards the development of the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital, helping to bring together pioneering research, innovation and patient care under one roof. The project aims to improve the way cancer is diagnosed and treated, benefiting patients and families for years to come.

People First in Action

The Dragon Boat Festival was about far more than racing. It reflected the values that sit at the heart of Buffaload, with colleagues coming together to support a common cause and make a meaningful difference. Whether rowing, organising, donating or supporting from the sidelines, everyone played their part in making the day such a success.
