During Armed Forces Day on Saturday 24th June our Buffaload colleague Thomas was, to his and our surprise, given the Commanding Officer’s Coin in recognition of his work to create the Buffaload Armed Forces Day trailer.
Thomas Jackson, Buffaload HSQE Advisor, is known by 158 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps as Corporal Jackson.
His award says, “Cpl Jackson’s leadership and enthusiasm has been a driving force behind the creation of the Buffaload Military Covenant Trailer. The trailer is part of a national campaign which supports both 158 Regt RLC and the wider Army Reserves recruitment whilst reinforcing Buffaload’s commitment to the Military Covenant.”
The award was given to Thomas by his Commanding Officer Lt Col Swales MBE, who made a very kind speech. It was an emotional moment and we are all so proud.
Thomas is able to work at Buffaload and also be a Corporal in 158 Regiment because he is a Reservist. Army Reserves serve in their spare time. They get paid to train in the evening and at the weekend, combining Army and day-to-day life. This opportunity is open to people aged 18 to 43.
Buffaload as a business allow Thomas leave to attend training and, if he were mobilised, he would be free to go without losing his job with Buffaload.
